There are no doubt many people in Wallace or in surrounding areas who would love to salvage the material in that building. And they would benefit from it. But the sad reality is that in today's world, fear of lawsuit propels big corporations to make decisions that are not popular with the law abiding and scrupulous individuals who are still out there.
Several years ago one of our projects involved first removing a modest, yet sound, cabin that was in the way of the house. I had friends who were willing to provide the labor to completely dismantle the cabin for the material. It's amazing how much of a hassel it was to insure these people from injury to themselves, the property itself, or any neighbors, passersby, deer, squirrels or the like that might be injured in the process. It would have been easier to doze it over, but my friends did get the salvage. JH
