door adjustment

On my 56 FFPW, both doors were missing the little wedges at the top of the door and bottom (of the top) of the cab. So I put a set on the passenger door and it worked like magic.

But on the driver side door, it seemed to push the door too far down so that it would not latch. I tried adjusting the latch and catch on the side of the door to the lowest position I could get, but that was not enough to allow proper operation.

I am sort of loath to try adjusting the door itself because it can move in many directions and getting it back lined up might be a problem.

Anyone with experience doing this... is it as tricky as I fear? Any other ways to lower the side latches?
