I ordered a new p/u in 97.a ford(yikes).it was the only square truck left.the last year for that body. F350 4x4 I have a 460 e4od 3.55 33" tires. my last new one! a SUNDAY ride. what a mistake, having been out of the new truck market for years, I didn't know about the o/d ratio(it was not published in the options book).had I known this thing was 29%,I would have ordered 4.88 or 5.13.anyway 67,000 miles on it now and I still get pissed off when I drive it. the 460 is worked over some headers intake cam cam timing chip.I did all this trying to get my SMOGGER 460 to run like our 77 carburetor 460 . well it runs ok as long as you keep it tached up before and after mods. 2500 to 3200 is rather nice and produces the best mileage in direct. like 16mpg is not out of the question.12 mpg in o/d at best.it runs way and I mean way to fast to do 2500/3200 in o/d.I would have been better to change to the gears and left the engine alone.in fact a set 4.88's are on the list next. so ya the o/d argument is rather confusing. the power band on a long stroke small bore 6 would magnify this aspect in my mind??
