I'm with Paul, I guess they were considered expendable, just take them out an wrinkle them up. But hard to do that with all the mega-hours put in to a resto.

I remember one day my WC 1/2t open cab was stuck diagonally in a creek. That short box was twisted 45° in 6 1/2 feet. Old frame, very loose in the rivets. No posi needed, couldn't get one wheel light, ever. I was stuck because the clutch pedal jammed in it's slot in the floor, making it impossible to feather the clutch. Either in or out. Had to hand crank it, starter pedal was jammed too. But it had good traction... and no body to wrinkle.
