I have two Military Dodges a WC-55 and a WC-56, I also have a Town Wagon.
I am looking into AAA because of the towing service and other service related features of the policy. I used to register my vehicles as historical but found out that the state restrictions also roll over and apply to the insurance policy and the insurer usually mirror's these restrictions as a collector vehicle.
Many of the "specialty collector vehicle" Insurers believe they have very little risk in the Collector vehicle niche that they insure in because these vehicles see very little miles and are stored in Air conditioned garages.
My command car is not a commercial vehicle so there is no weight fee and I registered it with a year of manufacturer plate from 1942, The WC-55 like many FFPW's is a commercial vehicle and costs quite a bit more to register. Many owners get out of the weight fee's by registering with historical plates and then cheat on the restrictions.
One of those restricions is the amount of milage per year, if you have a claim and your milage does not jive the insurer will deny your claim by default.
AAA maybe my choice for many reasons, the biggest being the 200 mile tow to my driveway, which gives me the piece of mind to drive my trucks or go to the dump or home depot.
Insurance companies make money by selling policies, the more policies they sell the less risk they have of dipping into profit, they play the odds game and spread there losses over much larger gains. Everything they can do to increase the odds in there favor they will take advatage of, including putting use restrictions and limiting milage on a vehicle. Its a collector vehicle it should be used ony for car shows and then be put back in the garage.
I choose to insure my trucks the same as my daily drivers other don't need that much coverage and tailer there trucks to shows.
To each his own.

Why sweat the small stuff!!!
