Don't know if this has been discussed on here before but....I was at a familiariztion / diagnostics class today for the 6.7L Ford Diesel. When discussing the roller cam followers with two push rods per follower the subject turned to current lubricating oils and what they don't do for older non roller / flat follower engines. I was not aware that (with very few exceptions) current engine oils no longer contain zinc based additives that used to help "lubricate" the contact area of camlobes / flat faced followers. Anyone else out there knowledgeable on this? I know that you can buy zinc based additives to add to engine oil. I thought that it was worth discussing since most of us have some of the old "good" stuff.
