The topic has been discussed here before. I for one agreed with the discussions the last time it was raised after someone posted 50 links to trucks for sale on the forum. The technology exists for anyone with a computer and a little imagination to find trucks or parts for sale.

I take issue with the topic of blanket CL postings for items for sale because I for one, feel that in most cases (not all) its not very helpful and it doesn't really give any of us any advantage when trying to act on a listing. Joe can give you the number of hits his site receives per day but, if a truck listing is posted here anyone mildly interested in finding a deal is looking into the link. If common CL courtesy is for the first person to email or show with money gets first refusal then 10 people inquire about the item for sale it typically is going to go to the first or second person to show anyway.

I realize the CL for sale post is good intentioned but to me it just doesn't make sense. I see it having the opposite effect and it takes the fun out of the hunt. Especially if I'm the local guy down the street who misses out to someone 500 miles away coming with a trailer. Maybe I'm wrong here but I find it so more enjoyable searching and finding the listings myself and get disappointed when I see them listed here first as I know my chances are shot.

Consider the guy on the other end too. The exposure may be great for the seller but anyone who has dealt with CL postings knows what a hassle it can be when dealing with email tirekickers and the time involved responding to potential buyers with questions and photos.

My suggestion for the forum is simple. If you need something or are looking for something particular post it here or use the "wanted section" that Joe has set up in the text classifieds. I often pass listings along that I've seen if I know someone's looking for something or if listings I've seen may be of interest to someone that may not have seen them.

If we adopt this simple method Joe wouldn't need to do any more than he already does for this great site.
Chances are someone knows how or where to get what you are looking for. And if you can't find it, chances are we're all looking for it and they're harder than hen's teeth to find!

That's my 2 cent rant.
