There are 2 schools of thought on the NP203 t-case. Some like them. The differential in the case is kinda neat, as is not having to lock hubs or worry about actuators working or not. Others don't like them, citing excessive drivetrain wear, poor mileage, The fact that its chain driven, etc....

I can see the where both camps are right. which leads to this. I think that if the gasoline powered full-time features of this particular vehicle are unappealing or not a good fit for what you are seeking in it as a truck, you would be better off money wise to go ahead & get a vehicle that already has either the part-time case and/or diesel engine, rather than to try to extensively modify this truck to fit those parameters.

This truck has a 149WB, which is the same as the 89-93 Cummins W250/W350 powered club cab trucks, which I believe are all NP205 part-time equipt.
