Not sure whether the pattern might have been patented by Budd, but I know for certain that all the wheel manufacturers used the 5 x 8". K-H, Budd, and Motor Wheel all used it. Budd and K-H in a stud piloted mount, MW in both hub piloted and stud piloted. All the wheels were pretty much equal from a load capacity standpoint. The only exception was a locking ring design call the "AR" that was used a lot by K-H on the heavier models. Obviously the heaviest trucks used Dayton/Erie/Clark style demountable wheels.

I guarentee that 17" was from a Ford tonner. Nobody else used it. Those poor guys go nuts trying to find alternatives. Stu
