I thought it was leaking between the back plate and the block. I am now thinking it is leaking between the pump casting and the back plate. I went on VPW site and sure enough, there was a note by the pump that you are supposed to take it apart and "seal" it before installing it. I never heard of this before. I will examine the threads real well. The other thing I was thinking was maybe a bolt was bottoming.
