Newbie needs some help on 51 PW

I traded some windows ( I paid $150 for them) for a 51 Power Wagon from a friend. It has been sitting for about 5 years, but evidently ran when parked. We got it home (no small feet from northern Idaho) and put new gas lines and fresh gas and IT RUNS!! Now thanks to my neighbor I even found the correct carburetor! I have never had one of these and I have no clue on lot of things. I drove it yesterday (no brakes yet) and don’t know the correct use of the 2 shifters on the passenger side. Can anyone tell me the correct pattern for these? Is it always 4wd? Is it supposed to be geared so low? I had it in 3rd going up the road about 15-20mph… Thanks in advance for any help!!!
