I believe you will find there are arrows stamped on the inboard ends of the anchor adjuster studs. Clean off the end of the stud [right there by the lock nut] and see the arrow. That is "where the anchor stud moves", when you point the arrow in a particular direction, if you get my meaning. If you need to, take off the drum, turn the stud, and observe where the show moves. You will get the idea.
People often have the idea that these adjusters work like threaded ones in other brake designs, and that is not the case. If you look at the adjusters with the drum off and the brake apart once, it will all become clear to you.
