I never really understood the reason for a Fire Dept in small towns. I think most people that live in the country have a pretty good understanding of there environment and get the hell out of the house if its burning. Now with that being said there are a lot of people that expect to be taken care of and that is where we run into problems. My friend is a paramedic in a good size city and he gets 911 calls for people that cant reach there tv remote. There is a lot of waste in the Fire Dept around here and they are always crying for more money. In city's with high building and stuff like that sure come set the ladder truck up so I can get the hell out of there but dont ask for 100k a year to do it.
