Total Capacity of a fuel system is equal to the size of the inlet fitting of the carb.
Pretty hard to have a filter that is too small.
And too large would be harmless.
EXCEPT the greater the volume in lines and filters PAST the pump. the more likely it is that the fuel will be heated in the engine compartment. So I keep my filters behind the pump. At the tank is most convenient. I also use 5/16 steel line from pump to carb. Half the3 volume of 3/8, still plenty of flow for that inlet fitting.
