Life of a VP 44 is partly related to fuel pressure and flow. First mod you need is a fuel pressure gauge. No less than 10 running psi according to the FSM. I prefer more. FASS and Air Dog are well recommended aftermarket lift pumps. I have a Raptor on mine and it has done way better than anything else I've had. I don't recall whether it's made by FASS or Air Dog now but one of them. There are a couple of belt driven pumps also but I am not too familiar with those. Also I believe it is smart to keep your tank half full or better especially in hot weather to keep fuel temps down. the IP is fuel cooled and lubricated. Just MHO but a few others share it and it makes sense to me.

Banks intake is mostly a waste of money, especially with a basically stock rig.

The K&N is not very well recommended on the diesel boards.

Hope this is helpful. There are a # of BB for diesels.
