Around the house and the camp, I use a electric. Bought a Craftsman. Keep the chain sharp and the chain oil full. Works every time. Cuts up the stuff for the fire place. Out in the field gas is the only one. Steil is my choice. Keep it serviced and clean works good. Sounds like you should take it back, since it was a problem since day one. Good luck. Bill.
