I have been in the trucking industry my whole life. the last 20 years pulling bulk commodities.many trips to bakken the head man told me one afternoon it would be 10 to 15 years before they had the field fully developed,that was two years ago.the rockies have several different things going on. they have shale,plus they have been testing a new procedure which they inject heated fluids or steam to melt the oil out of the rock and then recover it(simplified description).our president has invoked the antiquities act (like roosevelt for national parks)several times in areas of the west,utah,colorado,arizona,that I know of. all oil rich land holdings,very rich oil reserves. there are several maps out on the web to document the locations. the one shows a field from nw utah back through eastern colorado. honest to God we have more bleepin oil than the public can imagine.not to mention natural gas.. absolutely criminal in the way things are handled. the rights to the bakken fields were bought up in the 40's and 50's some may have been earlier.but for sure 40's through the 50's. they have had this all these years so just what else aren't they telling???? technology not withstanding to development. food and facts for thought..
