I was wonder what process they used originally

I have a 40's woodie and the floor and supports are in #1 condition although they are unpainted.

All I can find by researching is that they were processed using a propriatary process that is was caustic and or uses health threatening chemicals.

Don't know what it was, but it must be pretty good to have held up for nearly 70 years.
