The trailer has 4 wheel stainless disc surge brakes. It stops really well. The total trailer weight (with boat) is about 6000#. The truck handled it like a dream. Granted the boat ramp is only 2 miles from my house and I never exceeded 25 miles per hour. I would say that on flat (slightly hilly ground) the truck would have pulled it at 40-45, but that was not the point of the excercise for me.
