imo more awe inspiring than the grand canyon. both are beautiful, but looking up in zion is much more impressive than looking down into the canyon. stay in the park at the hotel in both places. try to get a room at the el trovar at the south rim grand canyon. amazing rooms and food - and the view is pretty nice too.
