Ethanol is not made from corn on the cob that people eat. Those are different varieties of corn grown and harvest in different ways.

Ethanol is made from corn fed to livestock or used in processed foods. In processed foods, it is the processors and packagers that are responsible for the majority of the costs, not the raw ingredients.

As far as livestock go, the distillers grains are still fed as a protein source after the sugars are used fo ethanol. These are symbiotic industries, not competitors.

We need to make the most use of our domestic resources. We can't continue to be wasteful and dependent on other countries for our energy.
