My 95 "DODGE" Ram owner's manual suggests a heavier synthetic for the diff if doing heavy towing. This is mainly to reduce heat. I use Amsoil 75W-140 Severe Gear lube. I'm mostly an old school type of guy who changes his engine oil and filter at 3-4K with dinosaur oil but I do like running the synthetics in the transmission, transfer case, and diffs. 300,000 miles and going strong.
