Anyone using synthetic oil in their axles?

I've been wanting to change the gear lube in the rear axle of my '01 3500 as it's coming up on 180,000 miles. With the pulling I do I thought maybe this might help my mileage and reduce heat. Anyone have experience and what are you using? Also will synthetics have the additives for limited slip diffs?
