No it is not strange, I should have been a little clearer in my first post. 1957 & 1958 D100, D200, D300, W100, W200 had a narrow spring, in 1959 dodge widened the springs on the D100, D200, D300, W100, W200, so that is why they are wider, dodge changed the width starting in 1959.

I dont think you could modified them to fit. No there is not a spacer for under the axle tube for shock to bolt to, it is a whole different bottom piece. It is cast iron, and has a ear cast into it for the shock to bolt to.

I dont know any sources for the bottom bracket, meaning not some place, you can just call and they would have them sitting on a shelf waiting for you. I "Might" have a set laying around though, I will look around and send you a email if I find some, or at least send you a few pics of what they look like on one of my 1958 W200 complete trucks, so you have a idea of what your looking for.
