The new Power Wagon has been available since 2005. There has been no change to the unique features of the Power Wagon drive line, suspension, protection package, and standard equipment except that the 2010 Power Wagon only frame Part # XAG167118 has been lengthened nine inches to accommodate the crew cab. (The RAM 2500/3500 4wd gas engine frame Part # 2AG176928 has also been lengthened.)

There seem to be few owners of new Power Wagons on the various Power Wagon forums. For the last five years there have been many opinions offered by those who don't own one. In fact, there have been even more opinions offered by folks who have never even seen one in person.

I lived in Arizona for several years and explored many areas accessible only by motorcycle. To be successful, a search and rescue unit will have to get into such areas. I do not know what Dodge was thinking when they increased the Power Wagon’s wheelbase making it even less suited for maneuvering in tight places. Most S&R units, including white water rescue teams, are most successful when they use a full size vehicle as a base to transport and provide for the logistics of smaller search vehicles which have greater mobility.

I understand you favoring large Soccer Mom vehicles with many creature comforts instead of the minimum comfort of a smaller vehicle which is more likely to have good results.

I don’t ride the mountains and deserts of Arizona any more, but if I did, I would hope to be rescued by someone who did not choose thirty miles of comfort when I am forty miles back in the wilderness. (I would accept some Soccer Mom comforting once I was rescued, though.)

Oh, yes… I have a 2005 Power Wagon and I have presented a detailed discussion on my Power Wagon web site JUST A CLICK AWAY.
