You don't need to do all that.
You buy the kit. I use the interdynamics kit. Model # RKR-5
#1 You evacuate the system to remove the remaining R12. No oil needs to be removed or anything else.
#2 Install the R134 adapter fittings(once installed they cannot be removed or thread damage will occur)
#3 Charge with one shot refrigerant&oil.
#4 Affix retrofit label.
Remaining Mineral oil does not need to be removed

Done many and works well. You only charge 2/3 of the original R12 volume.
So if your R12 system used 3lbs refrigerant,you install 2 and 3/4 lbs of R134
