Stripped threads in carb float bowel -how to fix?

I come to discover that the threads in the float bowl on my caburator are stripped- very soft metal. the inlet requires a 7/16 x 20 tpi brass fitting that holds the needle valve. Question: how can I repair the carb. Do I use a helicoil?
