I used the spiral rewind spring from a lawn mower motor!
And I had enough left overs, that I sharpened one edge of it, and used it to make a "steel rule die". That's making a ply wood part, band saw a cut the shape of your part, insert the steel rule die, set it over gasket material and whack it with a hammer. I used it to make a batch of Buna fuel pump diaphragms out of material from McMaster or somewhere. One square foot gets about 15 diapragms. $5 each, anybody want one?
