The gear rattle is reported many places, and written about on the net that the Ford 5speed Zf has gear rattle on low rpm's, complaints from people when trucks where even new with ford motor's, also the rattle is magnified by using it behind a diesel engine, there is a reason you can buy used ZF's for 200.00 I guess and nv4500's start at 800.00plus. The German's might be able to make beer but they don't know diddley about making transmission's in my opinion. If you haven't bought a Zf already get the chevy nv4500 two wheel drive model. The flywheel will cost you more, also and harder to find, but I think you would be much more pleased. I don't know if the newer 6 speed Zf's are the same or not, maybe someone else can step in and say? If you have the room I would also look at the overdrive unit you can get from advanced adaptor's that go in front of a ford t18-t19 and the chevy sm465, 27% gain in any gear and your not going to hurt either of those transmission's.
