With the dikes parallel to the shaft, bite them in pretty good, the pull the handles away from the shaft, like a lever. Lots of leverage, since the fulcrum is at the end of the dikes and you've got the handle length advantage.
Probably need to file the mars off the key before using it again.
And Oh, also, there should be a zerk fitting in the u-joint that just lubes the shaft around the shear pin. Keeps the joint form rusting tot eh shaft, which would negate the shear pin concept.
