Most of the time problems are caused by the tape but since you have tried several tapes it is probably the deck that is worn out. Have you tried a brand new tape? Most tape players are run by a rubber belt which can become hard after time and cause the mechanism to think the tape is at the end and will do the automatic shutoff. Most aren't worth repairing.
