they are no cotter pins. scroll down to the exploded view of the drag link and you will see they use a squiggly wire. it is shaped like that for 2 reasons, to allow access to the zerk and to keep it from falling out. wire brush you aasembly real good and you can make sense of it. remove the zerk then the wire can be removed by sliding one way then the other.
