hi all. thought I'd finally go and do a compression check on the 'ol poly in the Power Giant because it runs so rough and will hardly idle (carb was rebuilt last summer and truck has barely been used since). heres what i found: most cylinders were 120 psi, two were 100 psi and one was 85psi. I put a little oil down the cylinder of the 85psi one and it bumped the compression to 105. it seems to me I need to do a rering job. any thoughts? I had the heads tested (vacuum, bleed down etc.) and decked about two years ago, and the machine shop said they were in great shape.and with the oil bumping the compression I can only draw one conclusion. rering time.
anyone know what the proper psi is for the 318 poly?

I believe it's a '59 motor but I don't know for sure. I have never done a rering so, I want to make sure that's what it is before I get into it. I really don't think it's a sticky valve or bad cam at this stage given that the oil boosted the compression but any thoughts would be appreciated thanks guys!
