Ok when fuel savings became a major issue , the old cast spoke fell by the way side . Lighter and cheaper budd wheels became the more popular wheel . Back in mid eighties "wheel off" occurrences became daily news . In fact the government here mandated that a person who installs any wheel must be licensed and have been trained to install wheels correctly and you must use a torque wrench when doing the final tightening . So sayeth the law but wheels still fell of at a alarming rate ,then the little plastic "pointers" showed up .nice green things told you nuts havent moved . Still not the case wheels still get loose . Real buds on duals have two nuts one for the innerwheel one for the outter worked great on light dual no inner /outter nut jut one nut per stud . My opinion cheap rims too much flexing causes stretching of the hardware (where ever it was subcontracted to be made) rims crack fact of life . you must check wheel lugs periodically . Personally I have rattled on so many wheels with Mr impact gun and never had cast spoke come lose .On the budds many came back cracked broken and loose, nature of the beast ,you couldnt say that twenty five years ago when stuff was made with good steel and quality studs and nuts ~ Copey
