yes the rad needs a recore . I picked through several rads and my focus was on undamaged tanks . The rads made 60 years ago were not made to run at 15 to 17 lbs pressure . I figured the best thing to do was get a rad that would fit and get it recored . I have made top and bottom tanks for my hot rods but i am getting tired of this . I also considered going for aluminum and welding up my own tanks but I like copper rads better than aluminum .
paul i will not be able to drop the rad on mine , I tucked a 15000 lb warn winch in a tray that fits part way under the rad shroud . To get the rad out I would need to pull the bumper and slide the tray forward . This might not be as much of I big deal as i first thought . bet yah I could do that in 15 minutes .
