The 2003-2005 for sure are known to drop valves & self destruct..I think they changed something in 06 to try to help it but I'm kind of unfamiliar with exactly what changes they made & at what exact point they made them.
I'm unaware of any major problems with the 6.7 other than you need to immediately remove the exhaust incinerator BS...even though it will void your warranty. The fuel savings will alone be enough to cover any warranty work not covered :)
