Jonas, Dodge Trucks, by Don Bunn shows the 1939 TF heavy duty 1.5 ton being powered by a 228, whereas the TE regular 1.5 ton had the 218. The 1940 1.5 tons all had the 228, except the Fargo trucks built in Canada with the 218. The 2 ton trucks are referred to as VH, 3 ton are VK. Sounds like your looking at a 1.5 ton with a 228. However, my 1950PW has an older engine and when I told Roberts Motor Parts the numbers, they said it seemed to be a 218 out of 1940 1.5 ton truck. Go figure.

Dodge Pickups History and restoration Guide lists 1940 paint colors as: Black, Dark Blue, Gray, Green, Light Blue, Red, and Yellow.
