I tried "de-soldering my PW tank and it was a disaster. The preceding posting is on track. Try the POR-15 products for de-rusting the tank. You just pour the stuff in and throw in a handful of bolts and roll it around. They POR15 gas tank liner , is a wonderful product and I've done three gas tanks with excellent results. Good luck,
