Straight out of MOTHER EARTH NEWS, Pg 16 January 2001. Easy Gasket Replacement... This replacement will work for any gasket other than those for exhaust or manifold, and will even work for crank bearings.

When your changing the oil in your truck, tractor, or roto-tiller, the drain plug gasket is sure to brake or get lost. You don't have to go to town to get a new one. simply dig out that worn-out leather shoe from the trash, place it, soft grain up, on a block of wood, and find a piece of conduit or even copper tubing the some size as the plug stem. Hammer a hole in the leather with the conduit(always the small hole first), then use a larger piece of conduit to cut the outside diameter. the leather will soak up the oil, won't leak, and will outlast the original.

you would probably have to go to a interior shop to get a scrape piece of leather to do the job...obviously a shoe is not going to work in your case.

If you try this let, us know the results, good luck.
