Woke up this morning to new snow (the real sticky stuff). I have been in the process of hooking up the winch/snowplow set up on my '46. Problem is that the truck has a tranny and PTO from a WC62, and all my PTO shafts are for the WDX-WM300 style truck. One is octagonal in shape, the other two are round. I thought I had a match as one fit on the winch input shaft just fine, But it is just a hair to small to fit on the PTO side and the woodruff key is slightly too big. I guess they were diffrent.
Next problem is, my alternator will not charge the battery. I've converted 2 other trucks over to 12 volt with alternators without any problem. Cant seem to figure out what is wrong. I even went back and got a different Alt. from NAPA and rewired using the instructions on the best of forum page but to no avail. The snow is getting deeper!
On a good note, my '67 W200 got to cut it's teeth in the snow today. Man, that truck goes through the snow like nobodys business!!! I'm set up with a 318ci, 410 gears and 265 85R16 cooper discoverer tires. What a blast! I even winched a family out of the ditch with the PTO winch. What a great truck!
I hope I have better luck with the WDX tomorrow.
