Oops!! Ignore that last message (there was nothing there...)

Vaughn, I just happen to be rebuilding the spur gear tranny out of my '49 1-ton PW, and I know just which pin you are talking about. My old one also seemed really loose. It would move a lot when I would rock the shift lever back and forth laterally. Due to lack of availability of shift rails and the fact that one of the shift rail bores in my old housing was cracked, I ended up buying a whole NOS top case, complete with shift lever, shift rails, forks, etc., from Vintage Power Wagons. I just now had a look at it, and it also shows some side play with that pin when I rock the shift lever from side to side. I'm estimating about 0.015" of pin play, and that's without the full range of lever motion. The lever doesn't have its full range of motion, because the part that sits inside the case is out of its "groove" between the forks at the moment. I imagine once it's in the proper place and with its full range of motion, that little pin will probably move a lot. I am going to try to get the tranny back together over Thanksgiving weekend, and if I do, I'll try to remember to let you know what I find.

Matt
