Nice post. Takes me back a few years.

Ahh, the anticipation of attaining a new toy.
The excitement of stopping at the Hardees in one of the towns 15 miles before Fairfield for the obligatory coffee and pee. You then get out of there ASAP.
The elation of pulling into the narrow VPW gravel driveway past the rusting hulks. (use the south drive, it's much wider.)
The silent wow I think I'm at home feeling when you see all of that wonderful stuff.
The skepticism of asking yourself "which one of these relics is mine?"
The reassurance by meeting and being coddled by the laid back friendly staff.
Waddling through the overstuffed rows of vital spare parts.
The less than climactic short test drive in that noisy hulk.
The bite of writing that check.
The Science of loading and carefully lashing it down.
The remorse of leaving mecca.
The stopping 3 times in the first 100 miles to assure your new baby is ok.
The 6 hours later "why did I buy this expensive 42 mph fossil" realization.
The buyers remorse that you could have bought a 4 year old pickup for less.
The thumbs up on the freeway.
The "my wife's gonna shit" feelings.
The gas station "my grandpa bought one of those new" kudos.
The backing my new toy into the driveway pride.
The my wife did shit but I don't care pride.
The neighbors hate it. (wait till you haul 1000 pounds of stuff for them they'll get real quiet)
Her car sits out and the PW is warm.
The new found joy of double clutching and driving 40.

Sorry Al, you're addicted to a terminal no cure affliction. Welcome home bro.
