If it's the winch I'm thinking of it's made in Taiwan, supposedly designed in Japan, with, they claimed, name brand Japanese bearings. For perspective, a hydraulic AHSU3 Braden, rated at 10,000 lb., with the same size drum as a MU2 and gearcase I think the same size as well (being manufactured currently; I have purchased two new in the last 4 years for my M37 and F350) cost me about $1450 plus freight. I'd guess therefore the PTO version AMSU3, just minus the hydraulic motor with some sort of flange, would be about $1000-$1100. I purchased mine from "Master Mechanic" in wisconsin or Minnesota, I'm not sure they're still in business. The full retail price here in Anchorage at an outfit that builds custom accessorized trucks for the oil industry is about 20-25% more.
To me, $1450 isn't much more than I'd pay for a Warn M12000 (roughly $1000); it's more than 1.5 times the winch.
I'd be real interested in feedback from an owner of one these Taiwan Braden knockoffs.
