The reason the Dodge engineers built the lock-out mechanism it the T-case levers was to PREVENT drivers from using 2WD in low range. The rear axle shafts are known to be weak, and they figured "2 wheel low" was too likely to break them. I agree that it would be handy to have a 2 wheel low option. I would like it for going at a steady speed on a decent road where one of the high-range speeds is a bit too high and the other is a bit too low. I would also like it for going downhill in situations with doubtful traction, since I prefer to have the engine drag acting on the rear wheels only, so as to help keep the rear end of the truck behind the front end (I've tried it both ways, but I find I'm more comfortable going down a slippery road with the back end of the vehicle behind me).

That said, bear in mind that the interlock was put in there for a reason and if you bypass it, you do so at risk of breaking an axle shaft. At least don't hot-dog it in 2 wheel low.
