The head from my block has been exposed to the elements for roughly 17 years, and the pistons and bores are pretty rusty. I have been debating on whether or not to tear into the block and have it hot tanked and rebored or sleeved. I have never torn down a really rusty engine before, so I was thinking of running a hone in each bore to maybe loosen up the crap and tap the pistons out once the crank is pulled...

What is the maximum oversize you can bore the block? Any opinions on sleeving the bores, or am I wasting time? At this point I would like to get something done with the block, even if that means putting a little money in it and selling it.

My ultimate plans are the V8 or 4BT conversion, neither of which are going to happen within the next year unless I win the lotto... Then again having ANY running engine will be ok for me at this point. The parts on VPW's site make it look like it wouldn't be a huge chunk of change...
