I had a similar problem with my WC-56 last spring. After changing the inline fuel filter, putting on a heat shield and putting on a new fuel pump, I still had an intermittent problem.

At the advice of John at Midwist Military, I got an inline fuel pressure gauge and put it in the line just before the carb.
I had good pressure up until the missing and sputtering started and the pressure had dropped like a rock.

Come to find out I had a pin hole in the fuel line where it went through the cross member.

Also of note, last summer on the TMC '09 Convoy, the 1918 Dodge had similar problems that was thought to be vapor lock, until Sgt Mark discovered a crack in the fuel line located out of sight in the tube flare under a nut.

The Convoy Doc also had a Command Car that had intermittent fuel pressure problems that he finally traced to a decomposing float on the sending unit in the fuel tank, peices of which would clog the fuel intake.....

Just a couple of bits to think about.
Mark.
