Steel brake lines are just fine. They will have the unions at the auto parts store. If not check NAPA. Cutting and flaring the steel brake line is not too difficult. Just take your time and bend the tubing slowly and do not kink it. You could use a tubing bender but I just find a can, pipe or socket of the right size to make the sharper bends.
I believe that it will cost $750+ to convert to disks on a ffPW. This will include parts and some additional axles seals.
