I'm not going to do the timing chain myself because it requires pulling the oil pan which requires pulling the engine in that bus. Pulling the head and getting the valves done is about as far as I'm willing to go. I may pull the distributor and see if its gear, which I have been told is plastic, is worn out, if it will clear the frame with the engine installed.

Does a slant 6 have hydraulic lifters? I assumed it had push rods. Is there something special about adjusting the valves if you have hydraulic lifters? At this point, I wish I had a shop manual for it. If I do pull the head, I'll at least have to find the head bolt torque specs and valve clearance specs for it.
