Directions are usually on the envelopes.

The three piece oil ring should have the ends off set, by like 90 degrees.

The other rings have punch mark near one end, that may go up or down, depending on the drawing on the envelopes. I don't know how critical, since same rings might have different applications, some mark up, some mark down.

Did you check end gap? Use an unloaded piston to push a ring down into a cylinder, push it down below travel, and make sure it has ummm, look it up, .004? to .007? Might be on the envelopes.

Pistons also have to go on the rods the right direction, flat part up ;). No, I mean there is a left and right, usually denoted by a notch in the edge of the top.

Rods also need to go in right, big end down ;). No, They are offset, probably even numbers one way, odd numbers the other.

Also, slip a piece of radiator over flow hose over each rod bolt, to keep from scratching the crank journal.

Then when ready to stick them into the block, slather motor oil on the crank journals. Then pour the rest of a can of motor oil into a coffee can, dip the pistons in from top to lower ring, clamp the ring compressor on, and whack them in. Wipe up the oil from the upper cyl and piston top.
