In commiefornia, no title means no registration... period. You'll have to get a duplicate title from the last state it was titled in, or you can fergit about it. If not, you can register for the road, but it's a non-transferable registration. Also, you have 20 days from Bill-of-sale/entry, or penalties start stacking up quick. I had to show the transportation agreement to get out of the 20 day penalty. This place is nuts, and I'm sure there are a few other states out there like it.

Every state treats it differently, so I'd get myself informed real quick before I go cutting checks. I've brought two vehicles in, and I'd pass on everything that didn't have a a minimum; a clear title.

If the title was good, as advertised, I would negotiate a hold-back of 50% until the new paperwork went through. I don't want to hear no bullshit about forged signatures after-the-fact either. That's probably a deal-breaker for most people, but for any substantial amount of money, I'd protect myself and know the law.

The glass is always half empty in business until you get to know people.
